Our Nursery timings are as follows:

Morning Sessions - 8.45am until 11.45am

Afternoon Sessions - 12.15pm until 3.15pm

30 Hour Session - 8:45am until 3:15pm

Along with the 15 hours funded childcare that we currently offer in our Nursery, we will now be offering 30 hours for eligible families.

The Childcare Choices website includes a Childcare Calculator for parents to compare all the government’s childcare offers and check what works best for families.

Currently all 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to 570 hours of free childcare a year as a universal offer. If you are both working parents you may be entitled to 1140 hours of free early years provision.

View the leaflet to find out the criteria for working families to be eligible for this offer. Parents can now register details on the Childcare Support website, to be able to apply for this exciting offer and return their eligibility code to the academy ASAP.

A quick reminder on the eligibility criteria entitling parents to the 1140 hours of extended entitlement is:

  • Both parents are working (or the sole parents is working in a lone family) and work / expects to earn the equivalent of 16 hours at the National Minimum or Living Wage over the coming three months.
  • This equates to £120 a week (or c.£6,000 a year) for each parent over 25 years old or £112.80 a week (or c £5,800 a year) for each parent between 21 and 24 years old.
  • This applies whether you are in paid employment, self-employed or on a zero hours contract.
  • The parent (and their partner where applicable) should be seeking the free childcare to enable them to work.
  • Where one or both parents are on maternity, paternity, shared parental or adoption leave, or if they are on statutory sick leave.
  • Where one parent meets the income criteria and the other is unable to work because they are disabled, have caring responsibilities or have been assessed as having limited capability to work.
  • Where a parent is in a ‘start-up period’ (i.e. they are newly self-employed) they do not need to demonstrate that they meet the income criteria for 12 months.
  • If a non-EEA national, the parent must have recourse to public funds.

The Childcare Service System is now live for parents with children up to the age of 4. This means that parents wishing to access the extended free childcare can now apply for the extended entitlement using this system. Here is a link to the online Childcare Service.

The online checker is now available so you can find out if you are entitled to the extended free childcare offer for 3 and 4 year olds.
Parents who will be eligible for the extended entitlement must act now if they want to be able to access the extended entitlement.

Parents must apply, as soon as possible, per the section below on page 10 of the DfE’s recent operational guidance document. Parents may receive eligibility codes before their child is three but children can only start claiming their extended hours place the term following the child’s third birthday or the term following the date the eligibility code was issued (whichever is the later). Parents can also submit a telephone application by calling 0300 123 4097. You can use the DfE’s 30 Hours Eligibility Guide to help understand if you’re eligible for the extended entitlement. Aims & Values

In Nursery our aims, values and vision is that of the whole academy but also we want to adopt a nursery classroom that builds a good foundation for the rest of their academy life.

We plan fun and exciting activities every day to promote and nurture the children’s natural curiosity and love for learning and finding out. All activities are accessed at the children’s own level and we believe every child has the right to succeed. The children who attend our nursery are happy and friendly, who play well together, sharing and taking turns. We encourage independence in many skills and help children foster an “I can” attitude. The classroom is a stimulating and friendly place to be, where we encourage the children to be eager, enthusiastic and willing to try new things.

Mrs Basterfield

Mrs K BasterfieldHello, I am Mrs Basterfield and I am the teacher in the Palm Tree class (nursery) on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I have been a teacher for over 15 years across Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage. I work at Carlyle Infant and Nursery Academy and really enjoy my job here. I particularly enjoy working with the youngest children in the academy because it is so exciting to see the children explore and experience so many different things. I believe every day for them should be an adventure and here at Carlyle we foster that belief through interesting and exciting activities daily, including stories, songs, games and much more. Our nursery has an amazing team of passionate staff working with parents to support and develop their child and help them reach their potential. I like running to keep fit and healthy and I enjoy reading before I go to sleep at night. I live with my Husband and Daughter and we enjoy trips to the park, the cinema and we like to go swimming. Sharing a meal with my family or friends is also a nice way for me to relax at the weekend.

Mr Wallace

Mrs Palmer

Mrs S PalmerMy name is Mrs Palmer and I have 3 grown up children who all attended Carlyle Infant and Nursery academy. I also have 7 grandchildren aged 1-8 years, so I have plenty of experience of looking after children. I have worked at Carlyle for 12 years in various roles; the last few as a midday playworker/supervisor and occasionally as a TA. I really enjoy being in the nursery environment as I see the children grow in confidence. I feel that we help to prepare them for their learning journey ahead, ready for the next stage of the education. I enjoy reading as a hobby and put this into practise with the children when they have finished their lunch, I read them a story and sing songs.

Mrs Grace

Mrs H GraceHello my name is Mrs Grace and I work part time in the nursery as a teaching assistant. I have now worked in early years for 8 years and before this I had a very busy job as a full time mum to my three children who are quickly growing up! I absolutely love my job in nursery as it’s so rewarding being involved in this very important stage  in the children’s lives, and being able to be a part of helping them learn, grow and achieve every day (and having lots of fun at the same time!) My hobbies are keeping fit by going to the gym and walking in Derbyshire with my family. I also enjoy eating out with friends and going to the cinema.

Mrs King

Mrs A KingHello, my name is Mrs King and I have been a part of the Carlyle nursery team for the past 17 years, and from September this year I have joined FS2 as well which is lovely. I have a real passion for early years education and this is reflected in everything I do. I am a qualified nursery nurse with many years of experience and knowledge of how young children learn and develop. I thrive on creating and developing new ideas and activities that will help the children in my care reach their full potential. I would also like to mention that I am a mum to 3 children who keep me very busy indeed. Together we all love to be creative, bake, swim, go on bike rides and we all love to share stories. Some of our favourites include ‘Mr Large in charge’ and ‘The Borrowers’.

Mrs Hardy

Hello My name is Mrs Hardy and I have been working at Carlyle Infant & Nursery academy since April 2018. I am a Midday Supervisor in the Nursery. I love the job I do, I enjoy interacting with all the children, helping out wherever needed. It’s lovely to see the children grow in confidence and learn new skills. I have 2 grown up sons and a grandson. One of my main hobbies is reading so I like to read to the children and watch them learn new words. I like joining in with the stories we read together after lunch. I hope to work here at Carlyle Infant and Nursery Academy for many years to come.
